Minnesota’s First Annual Lager Fest a Go for June 2021

The second attempt at the first annual Lager Festival is on for Saturday, June 5 in Alexandria.

“Kick off your summer right!” says hosting brewery 22 Northmen Brewing Company on social media. “Join our lager-centric brewery and 19 other breweries for a day filled with craft beer, food trucks, and live music.”

This is 22 Northmen Brewing’s second attempt at hosting Lager Fest after the event originally scheduled for May 30, 2020 was cancelled due to COVID-19.

Why Lagers?

“There are two types of beer — Ales and Lagers,” explains 22 Northmen Brewing. “And what is the difference? Yeast! Because Ale Yeasts ferment warmer, they tend to provide more flavor like spicey and fruity notes. Where Lager Yeasts, on the other hand, tend to create clean, crisp flavors that showcase beer’s other main ingredients: grains and hops. This tends to make Lagers a harder to make beer, as you cannot hide beer faults with other flavors.”

Prone to misconceptions as light in alcohol content and color, Lager Fest will showcase all the different styles and colors of lagers.

Joining 22 Northmen Brewing Co. will be 19 other breweries from around Minnesota, Wisconsin, North Dakota and even Missouri! They are:

Lupulin Brewing (Big Lake, MN)
Revelation Ale Works (Hallock, MN)
